The sky was rosy with the sun's final blush, clouds painted pink across the pale heavens. The moon's rays hit the sun's, the twin orbs caressing as lovers will before a parting. Then the day dies, and the honest night is all that remains. Luna reigns, pallid beams kissing the harsh angles of the Grime Garden.
A shadow moves between two old chairs, covered with grime and moss. Four paws and a tail, a brown smudged body against the night, creeps quietly around the plot, muzzle scenting. Raina was hunting tonight. With the grace bestowed upon all of her kin, she moves over a torn mattress, freezing at some unseen signal. The pungent odor of a rat drifts 'round the ancient bedsprings; the bengal's ears clutch her skull. One paw foreward, then she crouches. The tip of her tail twitches back and forth, and her rump wiggles. Then...she pounces.
The rat puts up quite a fight, biting and writhing and wriggling. But it was a young thing, not yet used to life. The feline subdues it, sustaining only a shallow bite on her left front paw. Then, she carries her prey to the mattress and lets it loose before pouncing again, nipping it lightly on the back. For a few moments she plays with it thus, letting it almost escape only to draw it back, before becoming bored and ending the rodent's life with a quick bite to the neck.
Then, she settles to eat her prey, gold eyes staring out at the dark for others to come along.
